I like the air intake. Is there a supplier or is that custom made?
Intake snorkel is from Douglas Gardner. If you email them they will be able to give you prices. I believe they are located in the UK.

Why the switch from the Porsche transaxle to the Albins?
I'm never satisfied and always looking to make it more bullet proof.
I like the ability to change gear ratios with a simple swap of gear sets for different tracks.
Plus its just a stronger box. Yes pricey, but I think well worth it.

Are there problems with the Porsche box? Will it hold up to autocrossing and the occasional track day with 500ish horsepower?
If the box is properly set up, billet side covers, internal spray bar upgraded forks , you should be ok at 500ish. California motor sports did my original box. I just like to be able to change gears for certs in tracks
